However, there are also more toxic behavior patterns and influences, and this community is no exception to say the least. It’s that time of year again friends. The crisp autumn air brings with it the sweet promises of fall we look forward to every year. For those of us in the temperate regions, this time means picking pumpkins with our loved ones, engaging in spooky festivities, and watching the gorgeous kaleidoscope of changing leaves reminding us there is beauty in the in-between. It is truly a season of magic, gathering, and tradition. However, this year autumn seems to be hitting a little differently, with a little less magic and a little more worry.

As the Winter begins to fade there is a gentle stirring that occurs. It can be noticed in the earth when the snow melts and the air fills with the sound of running water, or seen in nature with the budding of the new blooms. For mermaids, Spring brings with it the sweet promise of returning to basking in glorious sunshine and enjoying the open waters once again with finned friends.

The waves of the pandemic over the past year have brought more hardships than this generation has ever seen. With the mass roll-outs of vaccinations and attempts to return to “normal”, many are experiencing intense anxiety about what comes next. Fish friends, I am here to share that there is good news and bad news. The bad news is there is no going back to the normal we once knew. The good news is that the state of being we considered normal wasn’t good enough for us anyway. While the future is uncertain and uncertainty can be far more frightening than known horrors, it’s important to remember that within that uncertainty there is something far more powerful… opportunity.
